Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump as your best answer

As a breastfeeding mom, are you looking for a breast pump which is not only handy but also affordable and comfortable? Fortunately, we have Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump as your answer.

BPA, Phthalates and PVC free

Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump is certified safe-to-use for mothers and babies because it is free from harmful chemicals such as BPA, phthalates and PVC. There are no batteries, no cords or no complicated buttons to operate—so it is absolutely easy to use.

100% Food Grade Silicone

It is made of 100% food grade silicone. Therefore, it is soft and comfortable to the breasts. Moreover, I can wash it easily because it is dishwasher-safe, or sterilize it in the boiling water. Also, this breast pump is compatible with all Haakaa breast bottles with wild neck.

What I like about the Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump

Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump is the perfect companion when travelling with baby because I can just stuff it in my bag with no hassle and take it with me wherever I go. It can fit into any handbag or baby bag.

Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump is amazing because it is a gentle, non-mechanical device that uses suction to obtain milk from breasts. Unlike other breast pumps, it is non-painful, soft and comfortable. You can use to accumulate milk on one side while feeding your baby on another side. It can stay on its own attaching to your breast.

It is an easy and effortless way of collecting milk, after which you can keep the accumulated milk on larger bottles / bags for storage in the freezer or for feeding. You can take it anywhere you want to go and use it to collect milk so that you will not stain your clothes as a result of engorgement, if that is the case.

Furthermore, since it does not use a motor, it is silent. When you use it, there is no way you can disturb other people around you.

What I do not like about the Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump

The measurement lines in the pump may fade off after a long time. This will cause me the hassles that I have to measure the milk in another container instead of getting the measurement right after I pump.

Moreover, there is no lid that comes with the package; I have to purchase it separately. The lid will cost you another NZ$9.90.

The worst case is that I was not able to use it further to express milk with it after just a few months of using it. This is due to its weaker suction. I found it totally cannot work anymore after almost 1 year.

Sometimes, there is some pain and discomfort after using this product for quite a long period. Sometimes, the suction of this manual breast pump cannot work effectively and may also lead to milk leakage after a certain period.

  • Nice review. Wish I found this back when I was pumping. I will have to keep this information if I have another baby. That is yet to be decided, lol! tfs :)

Is there a dual cup version available in this brand like this one? I'm not sure but the dual ones seem more powerful than the single ones? What is your experience?

    • Hi there... Thank you for dropping by and leave a wonderful comment here. To answer your question, I've tried to do a thorough search for dual cup version in the Internet but I can't find one. But if you want to increase the efficiency of pumping you can just buy 2 units of the manual pumps, since they don't cost a lot. Cheers~

  • I can probably see myself using the haakaa pump while travelling.

I'm glad to see it is 100% Food Grade Silicone & BPA Free. That is something very important for me.

However, not too happy you have have to buy the lid separately and that suction looses after 1 year. But can't complain about the low cost.

    • It's true, Terry, since we don't have to pay much to get one of this breast pump. Nothing is perfect. Glad to know that you are seeing yourself using this breast pump in the near future. Stay tuned for more tips and latest updates of the review. Cheers~

  • Great and helpful information. I was just looking for a breast pump for my daughter who recently gave birth. I wish they had these when I was breastfeeding.

  • I can't understand how it works.
Doesn't it spill when you squeeze the bottom part?
    Spoiling all the milk?

I can see why this product is easy enough to carry around. But we do need to clean it with every use, right?
I think I prefer the pump that allows milk be stored directly in a bottle.

My wife and I will carry an electric pump and several bottles when we go out for the whole day.

  • This seems like a great breast pump! I'm currently 38W and 5days breastfeeding, and I have a Medela automatic pump. This might be a great option for me when I'm on the go with baby. Would you recommend having a manual pump like this one you've mentioned, and an automatic pump for when this one no longer works?

    • It is indeed a great breast pump, Sidney. Of course this manual pump is my best recommendation in choosing a manual pump. Given its amazingly low prices, this breast pump ticks most of my wife's boxes in term of the user experience. For electric hands-free breast pump, I would recommend Spectra Baby USA S1 PLUS Double Breast Pump. It's a powerful hospital grade breast pump but I can tell that it is worth buying as its price is affordable.

  • What an interesting article! I love your price comparisons and the list of pros and cons. Very well thought out and laid out. If the pump does not have a motor, or batteries, how does it work? I am curious and have a friend who has kids all the time--she has 8 now and I know she pumps, so I will refer her on to you Great job!

  • I'm so glad I came across this product review as I'm doing research for the best breast pump to purchase. I love that this one is BPA free...so important.
I think the low price is worth purchasing two, having one as a back up. I wonder...as there is no lid, can't you simply pour the milk into a baby bottle and store in the refrigerator?

  • Thank you for this review. I really like the simplicity of this pump. It looks like it will transport very easily. I'm uncertain after reading your review if it would be a good investment. Can you clarify if a 1 year time period is the normal use life of a breast pump?
If all pumps are intended only for a short period of time the perhaps this is a good investment for the price.
I like your reviews and will refer your site to my friends that are in the childbearing years.

  • This seems like a great solution to store milk on the other boob when baby is feeding on one side ;so that the milk won't be wasted. It is also seems so convenient to bring along. I can still remember the time wasted on cleaning and sterilising every small pump part. Would it be just as good to use for people who have small nipples and encounter difficulties in breastfeeding due to that issue?

  • This is the pump i would have bought if it was around when i gave birth 4 years ago! When i first heard of this brand recently i thought it was the typical breast pump with lots of parts to sterilize every use. But your detailed review is an eye opener!

It has its limitations for those who need to pump a few times every day, but looks perfect for me as i rarely pump. I have a medela single electric which i have never used because of the cleaning i would need to do. Is it any good for mums whose kids are toddlers already?
